Summary

IJN College’s Diploma in Physiotherapy is a 3-year programme for students who have successfully completed their SPM or its equivalent, and are committed to be future physiotherapists intending on alleviating physical disabilities and improving the physical human condition.

This programme aims to provide students with fundamental theoretical knowledge and clinical experience acquired by interacting with patients, caregivers and various health-care professionals. Students learn to manage and prevent problems affecting physical functioning of human body, and to maximize the physical body’s movement and agility, with the primary objective of enabling patients to achieve optimal and maximum independence in body movement and function. They will also study important subjects such as anatomy, physiology, exercise therapy, electrotherapy and kinesiology and not to forget, communication skills that will enable them to adequately and effectively interact with and counsel their patients during their career.

 

Objective Programme

The objectives of programme are:

 

  • To produce graduates who are knowledgeable, competent and innovative, that will contribute towards physiotherapy services and patient care.
  • To produce individuals who are able to demonstrate clinical skill related to physiotherapy.
  • To instill positive attitudes, ethics, sense of professionalism, ICT, management, entrepreneurship, teamwork, communication, social interaction and leadership skills as a competent physiotherapist.
  • To inculcate professional attitude, creativity, innovative, sensitivity, socially responsible and can contribute diligently in physiotherapy issues.
  • To produce graduates who are committed to the importance of lifelong learning and professional personal development.
      Entry Requirement

      Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM)

      PASS in Bahasa Malaysia and English and FIVE (5) credits in the following subjects:

      • Mathematics;
      • ONE (1) science subject (Biology/Physics/Chemistry/General Science/Applied Science); and
      • Any other THREE (3) subjects (including Bahasa Malaysia and/or English); OR

      GCE/O-Level or equivalent

      PASS in Bahasa Malaysia or English and FIVE (5) Grade C in the following subjects:

      • Mathematics;
      • ONE (1) science subject (Biology/Physics/Chemistry/General Science/Applied Science); and
      • Any other THREE (3) subjects (including Bahasa Malaysia and/or English); OR

      Certificate (Level 3, Malaysian Qualifications Framework, MQF) related to Health Sciences with minimum CGPA 2.75
