CERTIFICATE IN PATIENT CARE ASSISTANT (PCA)

SUMMARY
This programme is to educate Personal Care Assistant (PCA) pertaining to become competent and compassionate patient care assistant who can provide high-quality care and support to patients in healthcare settings. This THREE (3) months programme focuses on developing essential skills, such as assisting with daily living activities, monitoring vital sign, ensuring patient comfort, and maintaining professionalism in communication and empathy. By emphasizing safety, compliance and ethical standards, the programme prepares participants for entry-level healthcare positions while promoting personal growth, empathy, and a patient-centered approach to care, ultimately, enabling them to make a positive impact on the well-being of patients and healthcare teams.
PROGRAMME OBJECTIVES
The objectives of the programme are:
- Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the principles and practices involved in providing patient care, encompassing basic care techniques, hygiene maintenance, and vital sign monitoring.
- Develop and demonstrate empathy and compassion in patient care, fostering trusting relationship with patients and ensuring their emotional well-being.
- Possess strong communication skills, allowing them to to communicate effectively with patients, families and members of the healthcare team, facilitating smooth collaboration and information exchange.
- Prioritize patient safety and comfort, implementing appropriate measures to prevent accidents, minimize risks and maintain a safe and conducive environment for patients.
