Introduction

IJN Radiological Services utilizes various imaging modalities to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of heart diseases. It is equipped with the state-of-art imaging technology and facilities with specialized trained staffs to ensure that patients and staff receive highest standard of care and safety related to radiation safety. With various radiological modalities, IJN’s radiation workers and employees who may exposed to radiation should be specifically educated with each of these modalities. As accredited healthcare service provider, radiation safety education is necessary to be conducted to all radiation workers and staff who may exposed with radiation while performing their duties.

Aim

This in-house program is to educate radiation workers and other staff who may exposed to radiation while performing their duties. This education session requires for IJN in preparation for hospital renew accreditation audits.

Objectives

At the end of this course, the participants should be able to explain on:

  • Principal of radiation safety
  • Effects of prolong exposure to medical radiation
  • Radiation safety in radiography and fluoroscopy services Radiation safety cardiac and peripheral angiography services
  • Safety aspect in CT and MRI services
  • Radiation safety in nuclear cardiology and PET procedure
